Sanford, FL - Michael Jones, a 42-year-old Florida man was jailed Thursday after he allegedly beat his live-in girlfriend with her own dog.

In retaliation, Jones allegedly grabbed his girlfriend's dog and began swinging it around the air. When the girlfriend tried to stop him, he reportedly began beating her with the animal.

Investigators say Jones then choked his girlfriend, grabbed the animal and fled on a bicycle. Although police found several red marks on the woman's neck, the animal was not seriously injured in the altercation.

Jones was booked into the Seminole County Jail and charged with domestic battery, criminal mischief and animal cruelty. His bond has been set at $2,200 and his next court appearance has been set for October 30.
